James Talbot won’t be available for the start of the season due to health issues. Poor lad. I wish him well. There are only two players with the Club, at the moment who are through and through Bohs, Bucko and Talbot and we’ll have neither of them for the start of the season. I don’t know how James coped last season with the amount of passbacks he received from our defenders. They couldn’t take a ball out of defence without, either passing the ball to each other or passing back to Talbot to punt the ball out of defence. Is Luke Dennison still with the club? I can’t remember if he’s still on the books

I thought Tadhg Ryan, signed from Treaty was still with us but a buddy mentioned Dennison, so I checked. Tadhg was signed by Derry last season and we still have Dennison on the books. I never understood how McGuinness, Ryan and Dennison never got a look in, in previous seasons. It was very unfair and didn’t give our second keeper any game time, in case he was needed. If you remember, Talbot did get injured and Stephen McGuinness (who I rated on a par with Talbot) was thrown in against Shams and he made one mistake which cost us. Is Dennison good enough? We don’t know because he never got a look in last season.

HERE WE GO LADS.
QUOTE: Bohemian FC is delighted to confirm the signing of Estonian international striker Sten Reinkort.
The 25-year-old joins from Flora Tallin on a multi-year contract, and is the third addition to the squad ahead of the 2024 season following the arrivals of Dayle Rooney and Rob Cornwall.
Welcoming Reinkort to the club, manager Declan Devine said: “Sten came in this morning after travelling yesterday from Estonia. Obviously we lost two strikers this window, so it was important that we get at least one.
“Sten ticks all the boxes for us. He is a full international for Estonia. He has played in a lot of high profile games. I have watched his Champions League performances for Flora Tallin and he is a huge presence.
“He is a huge lad with great mobility. He holds the ball up well and in 2022 was voted the best striker in the Estonian Premier Division. He has a really good pedigree, and room to grow and improve.
“We are looking forward to working with Sten. He trained very well this morning, and he has a lot of attributes that will help us as a team moving forward, so I am delighted to have him on board, and there will be another centre forward or two added to the squad in the coming weeks.

Any stats on Reinkort? I could’nt find any footage of him scoring any goals. It appears to me that he spent most of his time on loan while on the books of Flora Tallin. There was one round of the Champions League against Rakow Czestochowa, from Poland who beat them in both legs.
Devine mentions that he was a ‘huge presence’ in these games. Scoring goals as a centre forward would warrant a label of huge presence, so I don’t know what he means. Usual buzzwords from the Manager. I assume we went for any player who was available after letting Afolabi go. Devine mentions that we will probably have one or two more Centre Forwards. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a Left Full and another Centre Half that we need badly.
Another thing. Devine mentions that we lost our two Centre forwards, as in Williams and Afolabi. We didn’t lose them. We let Williams go at the end of the season, without hardly any game time and we sold Afolabi to a Belgian Club, for the money. So, we didn’t lose these players.

I’ve only seen the two goals posted, both matches looked like they were on astro. They were good finishes and he looks like a bit of a unit, I think he’s like six foot four?

The rumours of us signing Jake Carroll are getting stronger. He is over here on trial with Bohs. He is 32, has had a bad injury while with his last club, Motherwell, missed a full season and was let go in June 2023. He plays left full and obviously a left full is what we need to coax Kirk to get the lead out and start playing like we know he can. However, I don’t see Kirk quaking in his football boots at the prospect of competing with Carroll who has been around the block in England and we haven’t been that fortunate when signing journeymen from England in the last two seasons. I think they’ll sign him because we do need a left full and I doubt if they have anyone else lined up in that position, this close to the start of the season.

First-team players signed for 2024 so far (20):
James Akintunde, Keith Buckley, Cian Byrne, James Clarke, Dylan Connolly, Robert Cornwall, Luke Dennison, Jordan Flores, Danny Grant, Paddy Kirk, Bartlomiej Kukulowicz, Michael Lilander, James McManus, Declan McDaid, Adam McDonnell, Martin Miller, Nickson Okosun, Sten Reinkort, Dayle Rooney, James Talbot.
it’s official. We have three talented Estonian players in the squad who should be an improvement on last years squad. That guy Miller, in midfield, knows where the goal is, so his link up play with Reinkort could pay huge dividends. Exciting times. My only worry is Devine and whether he has what it takes to turn Bohs into a successful Club who can start winning trophies again.

Taking into account that Talbot and Bucko are not available at the moment and knowing what I know about the effort put in by certain players, combined with their ability last season, I would choose the following eleven as our best team.
Dennison Bart, Cornwall, C Byrne, Lilander Connolly, McDonnell, Clarke, Rooney Miller Reinkort

Belgian Pro League · Today 30/01/2024 Great evenings work for Jonathan Afolabi. His new team KV Kortrijk were playing away to Club Brugge and needed to get at least a point to stay in touch with other teams near the bottom of the Belgian League. Anyhow, they started him for the first time tonight. Kortrijk went a goal down. Johnny scored an equaliser. Kortrijk went 2-1 up. Brugge equalised. Brugge scored a third right at the end and somehow, Kortrijk got a third deep into injury time. Full Time 3-3. Highlights of game with all six goals.

08/02/2024: Kacper Chorazka (goalkeeper), signed from 2nd division Cypriot team, ASIL Lysi.
Quote: “Bohemian FC is delighted to confirm the signing of goalkeeper Kacper Chorazka on a multi-year contract. The Pole, 24, joins from Cypriot club ASIL Lysi and is the sixth signing of the closed season following the arrivals of Dubliners Rob Cornwall and Dayle Rooney, and Estonians Sten Reinkort, Martin Miller and Michael Lilander, bringing the number of first-team players signed for 2024 to 21.
Welcoming Chorazka to Dalymount Park, manager Declan Devine said: “We have done a lot of homework on Kacper. I’ve gone to watch him in Cyprus, and he has been on our radar since last season so I am delighted to get him over the line. “He has played in Cyprus for a number of years but hasn’t been afraid to leave a comfortable lifestyle behind him there, which tells me a lot about the guy.
He wants to come here to showcase his talent, and has a determination and desire to do really well. “He is a talented boy who wants to push on, and is a player that I have spent a bit of time with recently and have had good conversations with in terms of where he wants to go in his career. “He is very calm in possession of the ball, knows about the physicality of the League of Ireland, and is a very welcome addition to our squad. “We are really looking forward to working with Kacper. We have good options now for the No 1 shirt with Kacper and Luke Dennison, and even more competition when James Talbot comes back into contention.”

14/02/2024: Brian McManus (midfielder) signed from Shelbourne FC.
Quote: ”Bohemian FC is delighted to confirm the signing of midfielder Brian McManus from Shelbourne. The Dubliner, 22, goes straight into contention for Friday’s SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division opener against Sligo Rovers. Welcoming McManus to Dalymount Park, manager Declan Devine said: “Brian ticks all the boxes and, for a player of his age, has a lot of experience and has already played a lot of games in the League of Ireland. “He is a player that really impressed me any time I watched him for Shelbourne last season and he gives us real qualities in the middle of the park where we needed to strengthen in terms of his defensive qualities. “I feel we have great competition for places in midfield now and in Brian we have a very talented young player who is really looking to push on now. “We had him in at training today and met all the staff and players, he was a breath of fresh air and we are really looking forward to working with him.” McManus came through the ranks at St Kevin’s before spending two years at Preston North End, returning to Ireland to play for Shelbourne in 2020. He said: “I am absolutely delighted to sign for Bohs. It’s been a bit of a whirlwind but I am delighted to be here. “I grew up playing with Dawson Devoy and Ross Tierney at St Kevin’s so I know a lot about the club from following them. “I know that after losing the cup final last year, that the manager and players here really want to push on this season. It’s a big club and everyone here wants to be back playing in Europe so I can’t wait to get started here.”

We have the bones of a good team but we also have to remember 99% of this team were their last year and couldn’t finish a game strong near the end of the season! We are still very weak at the back just like we were last year. We have no other options up front and don’t fancy watching Rooney as our striker as he is and out and out winger. I hope Flores stays as near the end last year he looked like someone who actually cares and can play LB which is what I’m assuming Devine sees him doing. Devine will get the first half of the season but this is the worst off season I have seen as a bohs fan. Not one bit of excitement around the place. Big job with the league less than 6 weeks ahead Well, you were right about us not finishing strongly, well almost. An equaliser against Sligo Rovers in the 94th minute might sound good but we fell asleep after our early one nil lead, in the first half and should have been beaten. Our defence is terrible, once again. Bad luck about Cornwall. He must be upset, after coming back from the States and only starting his first game back in the red and black.
