Is McDaid gone? I presume Bucko won’t be fit to start the season but those players above could win some games if we had a Manager who knew what he was doing. Add Sean Hoare and Rob Cornwall in defence and, at least we would’nt concede as many goals. Stop the defence passing the ball between each other, wasting at least a third of our time on the ball and we might get the ball forward more often which would give Clarke and Afolabi a chance to score during play and Flores to score the odd goal from a free kick. Things are looking up 😉
Belgium 16 team Pro League side K.V. Kortrijk are still looking for Jonathan Afolabi’s signature and I think Bohs are looking for the cash to help with their impending signings to add to their threadbare squad. So, my guess is that the deal will be done very soon. K.V. Kortrijk are struggling in the Belgian top flight and are desperate to sign a hitman to get them the goals they need to climb out of the relegation zone. Money talks in Dalymount, it seems.
The amount quoted, €200,000 seems very low for such a talent. With no noise from Bohs, I expected us to hang on to him for at least half a season. So, if the deal goes ahead, it leaves Clarke as the only other top class team player, we can look forward to seeing next season.

Rob Cornwall has been confirmed as having signed back with Bohs for the 2024 season. His modelling skills are much needed and sales of jerseys are set to skyrocket. Besides that, he is welcome back, as our defence last season was a disaster. At 29, he can add the experience we require at the back and is also capable of scoring the odd crucial goal from corner kicks. Welcome back, Rob.

KV Kortrijk have got their man and Bohemian FC supporters have to wonder how much of a Big Club we really are. I think the Club need the money to help them pay a few ‘free transfer’ players for next season. Can it get much worse. All the marketing by the Club to get extra cash in, go full time and now it looks like we are short of funds, if Johnny’s sale is anything to go by.

The latest rumours are that Flores hasn’t even signed yet and Devine has rejected five players Fenlon has put his way. Just thinking that a good percentage of the supporters want Devine out, no matter what due to his ineptitude last season. He only compounded his poor player management and team selection, with his silly comments at the end of the season.

Yeah I saw people freaking out before Christmas on twitter about the lack of signings, thought they were being a bit dramatic. But now weeks have gone by and there hasn’t been a peep, the only rumour we’ve heard really is Devoy potentially coming back and I think Dan McDonnell said something about Sean Hoare?

Okay, so after watching the team doing a little training yesterday on video, it is safe to say that McDaid is still with the Club, minus his trademark beard. I seen Flores messing around with a giant elastic band around his legs, so he is still with the Club, although if, as reported he hasn’t signed a new contract, he could do an Andy Lyon’s and feck off to another Club before the season starts. I doubt anyone else wants him.
So, we have the following players still available Talbot Bart, Cornwall, C Byrne, Kirk McManus, Bucko, Flores, McDonnell Connolly, Clarke, Akintunde, McDaid, Grant and Chris Lotefa (Not available. On loan to Finn Harps) Rooney
i am told that Dayle Rooney can play as a Striker, so that may be where we start him this season.
We have some decent players again this season who could be competitive in this league. My only worry, is not the players but Devine and his two right hand ‘yes’ men who did not bring out the best in the team last season, either by not playing some players in their best positions or holding the team back by wasting too much time passing the ball to Talbot. I see it as a Management problem, not a player problem.
05/01/2024: Bohemian FC have confirmed that Chris Lotefa is gone to Finn Harps, on loan for the 2024 season.

We have the bones of a good team but we also have to remember 99% of this team were their last year and couldn’t finish a game strong near the end of the season! We are still very weak at the back just like we were last year. We have no other options up front and don’t fancy watching Rooney as our striker as he is and out and out winger. I hope Flores stays as near the end last year he looked like someone who actually cares and can play LB which is what I’m assuming Devine sees him doing. Devine will get the first half of the season but this is the worst off season I have seen as a bohs fan. Not one bit of excitement around the place. Big job with the league less than 6 weeks ahead

I like McDaid. He gives 100% but he is an impact player coming on as a substitute, not a starter. I just seen that Chris Lotefa has been loaned out to Finn Harps for the 2024 season. Don’t know how good the lad is but we have plenty of midfield players in the squad. If he is a winger, an out and out winger, like Connolly, we could have done with him on the left wing. Anyhow, the best of luck to him at Finn Harps.

Lotefa sat on the bench most of last season and seen very little minutes. He seems to be rated but obviously isn’t ready for the step up yet. Seeing a lot of rumours on Twitter of an Estonian international signing this week! I do love “rumours” around the LOI.

James Talbot won’t be available for the start of the season due to health issues. Poor lad. I wish him well. There are only two players with the Club, at the moment who are through and through Bohs, Bucko and Talbot and we’ll have neither of them for the start of the season. I don’t know how James coped last season with the amount of passbacks he received from our defenders. They couldn’t take a ball out of defence without, either passing the ball to each other or passing back to Talbot to punt the ball out of defence.
