Big game tomorrow. In a ten team league, with each team playing the other nine teams, four times a year, some games can become monotonous. Not this one, though. This encounter always has tension written all over it. Tension on the players, tension on the supporters, tension on the Security staff, tension even in the Bars, dotted around Phibsboro.
If Devine was still managing this team, I might have had a stab at who should be playing. With Reynolds in charge, I have taken a back seat from armchair Team Selection duties. I realise that Reynolds knows his stuff and am happy to leave him to it. I doubt somehow, that he will get it right tomorrow night, though. SRFC are much quicker to the ball than we are, they have a team full of extremely talented players, they know how to win. We don’t have that steel required to win games like this, at the moment, it will come, no doubt about that but I think tomorrow night is a little too early for Bohs to make an impression and win.
Players I don’t rate against the ‘scum’. Kirk and Keita at the back. Not sure how Mills will cope in a game of this magnitude but I have no worries about Cian Byrne. Matheson should be fine, also. He has played in big games before and knows what it takes. In midfield, Clarke and Dayle Rooney should be fine. Flores better turn up and lead this team which means him concentrating for ninety minutes. Don’t think J McManus should start this game. He is still a bit light, in my opinion. Better to have McDonnell in the thick of things. Up front, I suppose Akintunde will start. Good lad, plenty of skill and he has managed to score a few winners for us this season. I consider himself and McDaid as super substitutes to bring on to win a game for us but starting both of them is a big risk. I would have persisted with Reinkort from day one and have no idea what he has done to deserve this treatment. His goal in the first game of the season was unbelievably good but he has got less and less time in play, since then.
Looking forward to the game. We need to be in top gear from the start and not allow them to run our midfield. Set pieces might be crucial. Maximum concentration is required from all players for the full 90 minutes. Come on the Bohs.
