Alan Reynolds second game in charge. He will still be relying on Pender for this game, to choose his starting eleven. Pender based his advice to start that eleven, last Friday, on our win against Derry. However, it was not our superb football which won that game. Derry didn’t turn up, for some reason and we were lucky to take advantage. A good coach would have noticed this but, in my opinion, we only have one coach we can depend on and that is and will be Reynolds, from now on.
Our defensive line up against Shams on Friday was terrible. Experienced players are necessary, in this fixture, especially in Tallaght. Starting two newbies was always going to be a problem. Reynolds wasn’t to know that but he will sort it eventually. Why wasn’t Cian Byrne playing on Friday. He has been solid in defence, goes off with an injury against Derry and then loses his place to an On Loan player, Keita who was completely out of his depth against Shams. That lad has had two starts now, one in Drogheda and the second last Friday and he was hauled off in both games. He is so far behind the pace of the other players, you would wonder how Pender, a former defender does not see this.
Kirk hasn’t got it but might improve with some coaching from Reynolds. Grant has no pace whatsoever and is not a winger anymore. Chopping and changing every week. Akintunde is not a starter unless we know he will have to be subbed at some stage. He is a great player to bring on though, as is McDaid who has been given very little game time this season. He took his chance well and can always be depended on to give 100%.
My team for tonight is
Chorazka
Bart, Mills, Byrne, Lilander
Connolly, Miller, Clarke, McManus, Rooney
Reinkort
